Family of William Peters and Mary Jane Underhill

William PETERS (son of Samuel Leonard PETERS and Phoebe TILLEY) was born 20 September 1821 in Queens County, New Brunswick. He was baptised in 1824 in Gagetown, New Brunswick. He died 16 September 1911 in St. John, New Brunswick.

William PETERS married Mary Jane UNDERHILL 27 May 1847 in St. John, New Brunswick.

Mary Jane UNDERHILL (dau. of Benjamin J. UNDERHILL and Ann [UNKNOWN]) was born 26 September 1831 in New Brunswick, possible St. John. She died 6 March 1913 in St. John, New Brunswick.

William PETERS and Mary Jane UNDERHILL had the following children:

  1. Annie Jane PETERS (abt 1848 - 1888)
  2. William B. PETERS was born in 1852 probably in St. John. He died 17 August 1853 in St. John "after a short illness.. aged 15 months".
  3. Ida Tilley PETERS (abt 1855 - 1930)
  4. Ella U. PETERS was born abt 1857 probably in St. John. She died 24 September 1876 in St. John "in the 19th year of her age".
  5. Alice Maud PETERS (1860 - 1948)
  6. Frederick A. PETERS (abt 1862 - aft 1911)
  7. George B[arker] PETERS (abt 1865 - aft 1930)
  8. Mary A[deline] PETERS (abt 1869 - 1958)
  9. Charlotte L. PETERS (abt 1872 - 1950)

This family can be found in the 1871, 1881 and 1901 St. John, New Brunswick census. William Peters made a will 29 March 1905 which names his wife and some of his children; probate papers dated 6 October 1911 name his wife and children. Obituary for William B. in St. John Morning News 24 August 1853. Obituary for Ella U. in the St. John Daily Evening News 25 September 1876.
